Pro-abort in denial

From the Regina Leader-Post:

Just because some people, "wuv da pwecious widdle baybeez sooo much", that is not a good reason to force a woman to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term!

Say it with me now: A fetus is not a baby! A fetus is not a child!

Just feel the love for unborn children. I wonder how many kids she's had. I'm ready to bet: none. Because women who've had children almost all universally refer to their unborn children as "babies". The medical community does, too.

Just how stupid do you have to be to say "a fetus is not a baby". Heck, even Morgentaler believes a fetus is a baby after 24 weeks. He wouldn't abort past 16 weeks.

And how do you suppose women who've lost their babies to miscarriage and stillbirth would react to her screed?

A fetus is a human being. Opposition to abortion is based on the idea that unborn children are human beings (which they are) and that all human beings are equal and deserve legal protection.

That is the crux of the issue.

Being for unborn babies doesn't mean you are against women. It's not a zero sum game.

Most responses would be that women should just not have sex if they do not want to have a baby. Um, wrong! What about the men involved? Do you think women get pregnant by themselves?

Men don't carry the babies. This is about individual responsibility. If an individual woman does not want to run the risk of getting pregnant because she does not want the responsibility of carrying a pregnancy to term, then she shouldn't have sex.

Just because men don't get to carry babies doesn't mean that's an "unfair" thing to say. There's no right to ignore reality. If you do not want to have to deal with unpleasant consequences, and it is in your power to prevent those consequences, then it is your individual responsibility to prevent them. It makes no difference whether you are a woman or a man. This is a universal rule of behaviour.
