Stupid Letter

From the National Post:

Ms. Toeman closed her letter with an observation made by many other letter writers: "Is it just me or does anyone else notice that most anti-abortionists are men, seeking once again to control women and their bodies.

That is absolutely untrue.

I know lots of women pro-life activists (namely myself).

I can rattle off the names of LOTS of women pro-life activists:

Joanne Byfield -- of LifeCanada
Gwen Landolt -- of REAL Women
Isabelle Begin -- Health researcher
Nathalie Hudson -- formerly of Toronto Right to Life, now working in BC
Gudrun Schultz -- of Life Canada
Stephanie Grey -- of CCBR
Andrea Mrozek (not so much on the fetal rights angle, but still pro-life)-- of ProWomanProLife.org
Ellen C. Chesal-- of Campaign Life Nova Scotia
Mary Ellen Douglas -- of Campaign Life Coalition
Jakki Jeffs -- of Alliance for Life Ontario
Hilary White -- Of Lifesite
Samantha Singson --works monitoring the UN
Gillian Long --ibid
Dianne Wood -- of Family Matters Blog. Opened her own Crisis Pregnancy Centre.
Connie Fournier-- of Free Dominion
Vicki Gunn-- of the Christian Heritage Party. Blogs and runs a message board.
Lisa Johnston-- works for League for Life in Manitoba and helps organize the March for Life there.

Just off the top of my head.

Then there are countless names that never get in the paper.

When I attend Campaign Life meetings, women are in the majority.

Women are at the forefront of this movement.

It's true there are a lot of men. But it's not a women-only thing!

Fetal rights is everyone's concern.

Most pro-lifers are not men. In fact, surveys consistently show that women tend to be more pro-life.

Probably because they know more intimately the details of pregnancy and abortion.

Those cliches will die with exposure. Just like the "blob of tissue" lie. When people see the truth they'll stop believing the propaganda.
