Dumb controversy

Some of the folks on the leftist blogosphere are in a tizzy over the fact that there is a Canada logo on the March for Life banner.

JimBobby asks:

I hope we find out if Parliament is funding the folks who march on Parliament. Anybuddy know?

Don't you think if they were sponsoring this March, there'd be like...abortion laws in this country?

My guess is that that logo was plastered on there to show patriotism. Nothing more sinister than that.

Now some there could be trademark or copyright issues involved. But given the rampant copyright infringement that occurs on the net today, I wouldn't be so quick to condemn people for logo infringement if I were them, especially since this is for a non-profit and no one made a dime off its use.

This is just an example of "ha-ha gotcha!" petty politics. They can't address the larger issue of abortion, so instead they have to nitpick on a point that may have been overlooked in good faith, without any attempt at deception. I never recall interpreting that Canada logo as meaning that the March was sponsored by the government and I don't know anyone who has either. It seems to me that that logo has been there every year (although someone would have to verify that) and it just happens that this year, with the proliferation of coverage on YouTube, and a Conservative Government in power someone noticed.

But thanks for plugging the videos.
