UK: Pressure mounts to cut time limit for abortions

LONDON, England, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Pressure is growing in Britain to shorten the 24-week limit on abortion, with medical experts and church leaders saying it is outdated.

The Sunday Telegraph reported that critics of the current 24-week limit cite medical advances that would allow the survival of up to 2,000 fetuses that are aborted each year.

Recently published photos of Amilla Taylor -- the world's most premature surviving infant, born at just 10 ounces -- have fueled the call for a review of abortion laws. Advocates for a review are calling for the time limit to be shortened to 20 weeks

Go UK!!!

I find it absolutely amazing that Reuters-- which is usually so socially liberal-- is reporting this.

The article says BOTH Church leaders and medical experts are calling for this. Interesting.

I find it refreshing that this country can have a debate about abortion limits. In Canada, the slightest suggestion of protecting unborn children throws the feminist contigent into convulsions. It just doesn't happen.

It doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying.

My feeling is that Amillia's birth has hardly made an impression here in Canada.
