So I'm reading this article in Newsweek about the Supreme Court Hearings on Partial Birth Abortion.
The author describes the procedure as follows:
(The term "partial-birth abortion" refers to the medical procedure known as intact dilation and evacuation or dilation and extraction. In this procedure the fetus is partially removed from the womb, usually feet first, and then the contents of the skull are suctioned out before the rest of the body is removed.)
That is such a bland description, it's almost untruthful. It's like describing a marathon as a "jog".
This is a procedure that is used once the baby is so big, there is no room to manoeuvre in the womb. That's why there has to be a "partial birth". So we're talking about babies who are at least 4-5 months along. You can do a D & E (which is like a PBA, but the baby stays in the womb) up until 20 weeks. After that, there usually has to be some kind of labour involved because there's not a whole lot of room to kill the baby.
The baby is sometimes "euthanized" with a drug medicine known as digoxin or digitalis. You might recognize it as a heart drug. So what the so-called doctor is trying to accomplish is give the baby a heart attack so that he'll already be dead by the time he actually lays his hands on him-- you know, because it can really twinge one's conscience to kill a live, struggling baby-- and they do struggle. So to be "merciful" the medical profession thinks it only right the baby suffers CARDIAC ARREST before being sliced. How nice.
But see, the baby's heart is so small that the needle for the poison doesn't make it to the heart because the target can be difficult to get at. So the baby is never "euthanized".
Then comes the "fun" part. Labour is induced and the abortionist gets the baby to turn around so that the head comes out last. Then they use a sharp object to slice open the baby's head.
And here's the part that gets me. The article says the abortionist "sucks out the content of the skull". What a cop out statement! We all know by 20 weeks we're talking about a FULL FUNCTIONING BRAIN!
Taking a vaccuum, the abortionist sucks out the brain.
Now, if the abortionist has trouble getting at the brain-- no problem, he'll just rip off an arm or a leg.
They try to make like this wouldn't hurt a baby. Who are they kidding? We know babies at that age can cry (because some have survived abortions for short periods) and we know that they act like they're in pain (Poor-choicers: "well they're just acting like they're in pain-- it doesn't mean anything!").
Is it any wonder why Henry Morgentaler and most of those who perform abortions will NOT do these procedures? Think about it.
And this is perfectly legal in Canada. Probably performed several hundred times a year.
The poor-choicers never want you to have the graphic, plainspoken details on abortion. Just remember that.
